MTFTP on IKS: Bridging the Present with the Past and the Future

Bhopal: From 26th Feb to March 2nd, 2024, a transformative event on IKS unfolded at the serene premises of Central Sanskrit University, Bhopal Campus, Sanskrit Marg, Bagsewaniya, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The much-anticipated Master Trainers’ Faculty Training Program on Indian Knowledge System (IKS) commenced amidst an august gathering of esteemed academicians, seasoned subject experts, and visionary leaders from various universities, UGC, and the Ministry of Education converged for the inaugural ceremony on Monday. With intellectual fervor in the air, the event promised to be a receptacle of ideas, fostering dialogues, and thus delving into the rich tapestry of Indian Knowledge System.

 

MTFTP on IKS was meticulously structured to equip the selected faculty members of Indian universities with essential knowledge and skills related to Indian Knowledge System. To facilitate the seamless amalgamation of Indian traditional knowledge with contemporary information system, the UGC, in collaboration with the IKS Division of the Ministry of Education, issued guidelines for the training and orientation of academicians on IKS. In line with this initiative, Central Sanskrit University (Bhopal Campus), under the esteemed leadership of Dr Mantha Srinivasu (Joint Secretary, UGC), Prof. Ganti S. Murthy (National Coordinator, IKS), Prof. Ramakant Pandey (Director, CSU), Shri. Anurag Deshpande and Shri S. Sriram (Assistant Coordinators, IKS), and Dr Nilabh Tiwari (Coordinator, CSU) orchestrated a six-day face-to-face faculty training programme for more than 100 teachers hailing from various colleges and universities across Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, etc. held from Feb 26th to March 2nd, 2024.

 

The opening ceremony was honored by the presence of Dr. Mantha Srinivasu, Prof Ganti S. Murthy, Prof Ramakant Pandey, Mr. Anurag Deshpande, and Dr. Nilabh Tiwari. Dr. Mantha Srinivasu delivered the keynote address, highlighting the significance of the Indian knowledge system in the present day world.

 

During the six-day faculty training program, over 100 participants engaged in a series of fifteen sessions. These sessions included 'Elements of IKS - 1' by Dr. Mohan Raghavan, 'Case Study: Chemistry' by Dr. V. Ramanathan, 'Case Study: Water Management' by Dr. V. N. Prabhakaran, 'Elements of IKS – 2' by Dr. Mohan Raghavan, 'Case Study: Ayurveda' by Dr. P. Rammanohor, 'Case Study: Mathematics' by Dr. Venkateswar Pai, 'Case Study: Agriculture' by Prof Ganti S. Murthy, 'Case Study: Metallurgy' by Dr. Omkhar Nath Mohanthy, 'Tantrayukti – 1' by Dr. M. Jayaraman, 'Tantrayukti – 2' by Dr. M. Jayaraman, 'Case Study: IPR in IKS' by Dr. Vijayalakshmi Astana, 'Case Study: Architecture' by Dr. Harsha, 'Overview: Philosophy' by Dr. Venkata Raghavan. R, 'Case Study: Arthasastra' by Dr. Vinayak Rajat Bhat, and 'Case Study: Neeti Sastra' by Dr. Bharat Dash. Additionally, the program featured 'Brainstorming Sessions' (Shri. Anurag Deshpande and Shri S. Sriram), ‘A Cultural Trip to Mahakaleshwar Temple, Ujjain’ (under the leadership of Shri Dr Mala Rani, Dr Satpal Singh and Anurag Deshpande) and finally the 'Examination' conducted for the participants. The sessions commenced with high energy, drawing a packed house of enthusiastic participants eager to absorb insights from experts in the field of Indian Knowledge System.

 

The valedictory session featured esteemed guests such as Prof. S. K. Jain, Vice Chancellor of Barkatullah University, along with Prof. Ganti S. Murthy, Prof. Ramakant Pandey, and Shri Anurag Deshpande, who eloquently contributed to the session. The event was meticulously coordinated by the enthusiastic and congenial members of the organizing team, with special commendation to Dr. Nilabh Tiwari, Dr. Pratap Shastri, Dr. Narasimhulu, and Dr. Naresh Kumar Pandey. Dr. Manju Singh played a pivotal role in adeptly hosting the program, while Dr. Rajani V. G. delivered the vote of thanks in the closing ceremony.
